The Murder of Giuseppe Prina

Description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuseppe_Prina

Descripcion foto: Count Giuseppe Prina was Napoleon's Minister of Finance during the Kingdom of Italy. His singular skill in devising fresh taxes to meet the enormous demands of Napoleon's government made him the most hated man in Lombardy. When Napoleon was forced to abdicate, a formidable riot called the "Battle of the Umbrellas" erupted in Milan. A furious mob rushed to Prina's house, which they wrecked, and seized the doomed minister, who was hiding in a wardrobe. The rebels stripped Prina naked and threw him out the window. The crowd began hitting him with the tips of their umbrellas. Over the course of four hours, the angry rioters dragged him about the town, until wounded, mutilated, and almost torn to pieces, Prina received his death blow in Via Broletto. His body was then dragged and abandoned in the church of San Tomaso in Terramara.
