Descripcion foto: The Porta Fontinalis was a gate in the Servian Wall built by Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and Lucius Aemilius Paullus in 193 BC, following the Second Punic War. Known as Aemiliana, got its new name from nearby springs (fontes). It may have had a religious connection to the god of springs and wells known as Fons or Fontus.
