The Battle for the Czech Radio

Description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_for_Czech_Radio

Descripcion foto: Over the night of May 4–5, part of the staff of the radio hid inside the building, and at 6 o'clock in the morning started broadcasting only in Czech and playing banned Czech songs. This acted as a detonator and started the Prague Uprising. The Germans sent SS units against the radio, but the Czech police and other insurgents came to the radio's aid. The Nazi flag was torn down and American and Czechoslovak flags were raised over the building. A heavy fight erupted inside the building, and the SS guards were forced to surrender. On 6 May the Germans called in an air strike, and a Me 262 jet fighter bombed the building, causing sufficient damage to prevent the Czechs from using the building to broadcast for the rest of the uprising. The battle outside continued until 8 May when the Germans, that had barricaded in a nearby school, surrendered.
