Prague Castle - Vladislav Hall

Description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladislav_Hall

Descripcion foto: Prince Soběslav I started the rebuilding of the castle with stone walls in 1135 but was King Ottokar II of Bohemia who improved the fortifications and rebuilt the royal palace for the purposes of representation and housing. In 1485, King Vladislaus II Jagiellon began to rebuild the castle, adding to it the massive Vladislav Hall the largest secular space (62m × 16m × 13m) in medieval Prague. The hall was used for banquets, receptions, coronations (as the one of Emperor Ferdinand I, in the picture), and other events of the Bohemian court. It was even large enough to accommodate tournaments between knights; the "Knight's Stairway" was built wide enough to accommodate horses to facilitate such activities. Since 1918 it is used for the most important state celebrations, such as the election of the President of the Republic.
