Descripcion foto: The coffee house was founded in 1795 in Mariahilf and moved to this location in 1801. Because of its location, the coffee house was soon known as the theater coffee house and was known for its elegance and tasty coffee. It is considered the oldest international artist bar and a popular meeting place for operetta artists. After the "Anschluss" (the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany) the coffee house was "Aryanized". Of all the suburban coffee houses, Café Dobner is the only coffee house that remained continuously in the same location until after WWII. It closed in 1950.
