Descripcion foto: Empress Elisabeth of Austria, nicknamed Sisi (also spelled Sissi or Sissy), was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary from her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I. While walking along the promenade in Geneva in 1898, Elisabeth was stabbed in the heart by an Italian anarchist named Luigi Lucheni, who originally planned to kill the Duke of Orléans, but the pretender to France's throne had left Geneva earlier. Her tenure of 44 years was the longest of any Austrian empress.
