Description: This turtle was tagged by the Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research in partnership with the Caretta Research Project. Her name was given by the “Adopt a Turtle” initiative. Wassaw Will was first seen and tagged in 2010 by CRP researchers, and visited us again in 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025. She typically lays 5 or 6 nests a year, resulting in 31 total nests with 2845 eggs, 2184 of which have hatched!  At least 3 documented nests have been lost to storms or tidal surge.  Through the genetics project run by Dr. Brain Shamblin at UGA, we have determined that Wassaw Will does not have any known relatives in the North Atlantic Recovery Unit at this time.
