CT2 - Ledyard, CT | War Memorial

Description: War Memorial Memorial Parklet 13 Hurlbutt Rd. at Military Hwy. Ledyard, Connecticut Access: 24/7 The neighborhood of Gales Ferry in Ledyard created this small park after World War I to honor their war veterans. Although the city has grown up around it, the park and its memorials have remained steadfast witness bearers to the sacrifice of ordinary people from ordinary places making extraordinary impacts on the country and the world. True to the town’s agricultural past and thrifty New England roots, the granite monument started out as a farmer’s field roller before being repurposed as a memorial column. Made in America: The big dogs of the “other things to do” category in Ledyard are undoubtedly the two of the world’s largest casinos, Foxwoods (Mashantucket Pequot) and the nearby Mohegan Sun (Preston, CT) are mega attractions. Just south of here in Groton, the Submarine Force Museum and USS Nautilus are a Navy man’s delight. https://ussnautilus.org And historians should stop at the Mystic Seaport for a walk back in time to a 19th century seafaring & whaling village. https://www.mysticseaport.org Instructions: Take a photo similar to the one attached, with rider flag and motorcycle. A second photo may be required for location and/or safety reasons. Refer to Rules 6-8 (https://bit.ly/3m7BRWv) for photo verification. Scorers have final say whether standards are met.
