Description: 9-11 Memorial Elmwood Park 71 Main St. Danbury, Connecticut Access: 24/7 A tower of glass. Twenty years ago, two towers of glass and steel were brought down by terrorists in hijacked airplanes. Among those killed were residents of the city of Danbury as well as many other cities and towns in Connecticut. With residents working in New York City as well as the home of dozens of first responders who volunteered to help with the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, Danbury honors the state residents who died in New York City along with those in Flight 93 and the Pentagon. The glass sculpture is formed from shards of broken glass fused into a replica of one of the World Trade Center towers. Within the hollow center, is etched the names of the 152 Connecticut victims of the 9/11 attacks. It is especially moving at night when the sculpture is illuminated from its base. Made in America: If you need to do some shopping for those at home, the Danbury Fair Mall is one of the largest in Connecticut and directly off exit 3 from I-84. Channel your inner cowboy and take a ride on the classic carousel that is found in the food court upstairs. Or ride down to exit 8 and head to 125 Park Ave where you’ll find a unique collection of tanks, half-tracks and other military vehicles at the Military Museum of Southern New England. Train lovers can find a variety of interesting equipment and displays at the Danbury Railway Museum at 120 White St. Instructions: Take a photo similar to the one attached, with rider flag and motorcycle.
