Detailed description: The program was established in 2001 and its aim is to provide young people / university graduates the opportunity to gain valuable experience while volunteering in developing countries. The Czech Republic joined the program in 2006, when it sent two young volunteers abroad. Since then, in alignment with the Strategy of the Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic, the number of involved volunteers per year has risen to the current standard of 8-10 people per year. Czech volunteers have been deployed in several countries, eg. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Yemen, Cambodia, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam or Palestine. Specific destinations for volunteers' deployment are determined each year between Czech MFA and UNV based on current needs of the UN and sectoral and territorial priorities of the Czech development cooperation and humanitarian programme.
