Detailed description: Project is being implemented in three phases. Phase 1: The project aimed to gradually build a network of testing entities that would be comparable to those operating in EU countries and achieve results applicable in EU countries. As a step towards achieving this goal, accreditation of selected testing facilities (laboratories) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was obtained. The aim of the project was to improve the current inadequate state of the art in building testing and quality infrastructure in BaH, both in terms of providing the necessary know-how and in terms of material and technical facilities (equipping testing laboratories with technology). Phase 2: The aim of the project was to develop and implement the principles of a unified European procedure for the design of building structures in terms of mechanical resistance, stability and fire resistance with respect to different types of structures and materials used - Eurocodes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter referred to as 'BiH'), including the preparation of selected national annexes containing nationally defined parameters taking into account geographical, climatic and other national conditions, and thus contribute to the improvement of the safety and quality of buildings in the territory of BiH. Phase 3: The main objective of the project is to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of construction manufacturers and suppliers of construction products and to improving the quality and safety of buildings in BiH. The establishment of procedures, methodologies and certification schemes will ensure the design of safe building structures, which will have a positive impact on the whole construction sector, the public procurement insurance industry and the general public. Furthermore, national annexes to selected Eurocodes should also be introduced and published. In addition to promoting the competitiveness of local construction products, the project will thus also enable the country to slowly adapt to the European environment and conditions before its accession to the EU.

Results to date: 1) Increased capacity of selected test laboratories (phase 1) 2) Training of government representatives and testing laboratory experts in the use of new working practices in testing laboratories (Phase 1) 3) Support for the implementation of new testing procedures at all levels of government (Phase 1) 4) Increased professional capacity for BAS or ISBIH staff and other experts (phase 2) 5) Establishment and implementation of the principles of the Uniform European Procedure for Structural Design in BaH, by strengthening the capacity of ISBIH structures in the areas of implementation, translation, development and preparation of national annexes to the Structural Design Principles-Eurocodes (Phase 2) a. out of the whole set of 10 Eurocodes consisting of 58 parts, 57 parts, constituting 9 Eurocodes, have been translated within the framework of the project and gradually introduced in one of the national languages of BaH by publishing them in the catalogue of national standards in the national system of standards of BaH) b. the preparation and publication of 5 national annexes to selected parts of the Eurocodes containing nationally defined parameters in the field of design principles of structures, temperature loads, snow-wind loads and seismic loads, and the preparation and making available to the professional public of interactive maps of these climatic loads and seismic loads.
