Description: Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday. Diwali means "festival of lights" where the light triumphs over the dark and good over evil. People who are Hindu, Sikh, and Jain celebrate Diwali by lighting dozens of candles and clay lamps and placing them throughout their homes and into the streets. Diwali is celebrated on the day of the new moon which usually falls between mid-October to mid-November. This holiday is celebrated for 5 days. People set of fireworks, place candles outside, gather with their families, eat special foods, and pray for spirits of their ancestors.
