Description: They protect and manage the fish, forest, and wildlife of the state. They facilitate and provide opportunity for all citizens to use, enjoy, and learn about these resources.Over the last 100 years, the area was used as an exotic animal breeding area for the St. Louis Zoo, a riverside resort, and a public swimming pool and tennis club. The property is owned by MDC, but is currently operated in partnership between MDC and the City of Kirkwood.
