The Arizona Radio Observatory (ARO) owns and operates two radio telescopes in southern Arizona: A 12 Meter Alma Prototype Telescope located 50 miles South-West of Tucson on Kitt Peak and the Submillimeter Telescope (SMT) located on Mt.
