Description: Description: After being buried for more than 60 years, the Maisy Battery was excavated and reopened in 2007. It’s now possible to visit nearly a mile of trenches, tunnels and underground fortifications, as well as the gun emplacements themselves. The battery’s cannons covered both Omaha and Utah beaches, and silencing them was a key Allied objective.
